For My Friends

I’ve had people who I thought were friends 
Then one day the friendship ends
I’ve had some who say they’ll never go
Not long after that they just didn’t show

I’ve met people who I’ve never met
Who live so many miles away and yet
They’ve been so loyal, so kind, and so true
Always there to help me through 

I’ve got friends, I know it’s true
Some for a season, some for two
Some will go, and some may stay
I’m just thankful you’re my friend today

With kind words to make me smile 
I feel your hugs even through the miles
I have no way to thank you enough
For your friendship when times are tough

So I thought I’d write these words
Hope the message is received and heard
Thank you friend, for always being there 
I thank the Lord for the friendship we share
