Run For Isaac and Friends (R4IAF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based out of Muskegon, MI striving to help support and encourage families caring for children with autism and other special needs. Some of our events include an annual fundraiser run/walk/ride, operation:educate to get the word out that kids with special needs are not as “different” as you may think!, and our Hands and Feet Project- connecting individuals and families with a family caring for a child with special needs.
Our 6th Annual Run/Walk/Ride fundraiser is on May 30 at 10:00am. We will once again be meeting at the Muskegon Lake Nature Preserve. Your donations will go to help us support Smith Respite in Allendale, MI. Smith Regional Respite is a safe, family-focused respite facility created in order to help meet the needs of families with children of developmental disabilities. Smith was created in 1997 to provide families a break from the daily stresses of caregiving for children with special needs. They provide respite care for children with developmental disabilities between the ages of 4 thru 17. These flexible respite services are provided by a highly trained staff that cares about the children. Families can utilize their services for a few hours, overnight or for several days at a time.
We have no paid staff at R4IAF, so more of your donations go directly to helping those caring for kids with special needs. Other ways we have used donated funds in the past include: restaurant gift cards for special needs parents, tickets to museums, sporting events, purchasing a used washing machine for a special needs single mom, helping in the construction of a house addition for a young girl with multiple physical disabilities so she didn’t have to sleep on the couch and her numerous medical supplies and machines could be right there with her.
Extra Mile Challenge… If you’re familiar with Kickstarter campaigns, you know that the person requesting funds offers incentives for each level of giving… Well, I’ve got two offers for anyone who can’t attend but wants to help out by donating…
1. Starting today and going through the day of the event, when we receive a donation from an individual, I will add 1 mile to my run on event day for every $50 donated.
2. For businesses or companies who donate, I’ll add 1 mile per $100 donated, plus we will share your business name and generosity all over social media ( fb, Twitter, Instagram)
I’m prepared to run all day and all night! I’ll crawl to the finish if I have to. THAT’S how much I believe in what we are doing and what SMITH RESPITE does for so many families!!!!
